Edison Fairs is based in Southwest Florida and is named after Thomas Alva Edison who had a winter home in Fort Myers, Florida next door to his friend Henry Ford. Both the Science & Engineering Fair and the Inventors Fair have a long history in our area. The Science & Engineering Fair began in the late 1950’s and joined forces with the Inventors Fair in the mid-1980’s.

Since 1986, Edison Fairs has been empowering K12 minds to be young Edison’s, following in his footsteps and embracing the sciences, technologies, new product development, and entrepreneurship. Students strengthen reading, writing and communication skills. Confidence comes with greater knowledge in numerous subjects all relating to making a positive difference through the pursuit of scientific evidence and inventive prowess.

In January 2023, the organization moved from a Steering Committee under an umbrella of several organizations to a stand-alone 501(3)c educational public charity. Active on local, regional, state, national and international stages, its history is rich in the hundreds of thousands of public, private and homeschooled children to have experienced participation one or more times during their K12 education. At the heart of the programs: engaging creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills in a safe environment; learning to overcome challenges and to fail-forward; innovating-iterating-succeeding.
