Dr. Nelson’s background is in veterinary medicine, having practiced since 1974. In addition to veterinary practice, Dr. Nelson facilitates new product development and helps others in bringing their ideas to market. He assisted a regenerative medicine company for a six-year period in developing devices and testing canine, equine and human platelet growth factors and plasma protein products.

He served from 1992 to 2009 as president of the Edison Inventors Association. He is experienced with working directly with students in scientific and inventive endeavors and helping them develop an idea into a product. For thirty-seven years, Dr. Nelson has maintained a voluntary leadership administrative role in the Thomas Edison Regional Science and Inventors Fairs.

As a result of his experience, Dr. Nelson brings to the board critical insight into scientific and inventive matters, a passion for working with students, and a wealth of experience serving a variety of SW Florida organizations.
