He served from 1992 to 2009 as president of the Edison Inventors Association. He is experienced with working directly with students in scientific and inventive endeavors and helping them develop an idea into a product. For thirty-seven years, Dr. Nelson has maintained a voluntary leadership administrative role in the Thomas Edison Regional Science and Inventors Fairs.
